Okay, one more for tonight, since it’s been a popular request. Sens fans, avert your eyes.
YAY PINUP WEEK
Yay! (Back in 2004 this would have caused an immediate art response from Josh Phillips of Avalon fame. Is he still around? The world needs more Ceilidh MacFarlane art.)
I don’t draw as fast as Willis & Randy. Pin-up night has turned into Pin-up week!
Yay! Pin-up week! This reminds me of the glorious days of 2004 on the It’s Walky! forums when the “Smut Without Warning” threads would appear. Artists ROCK. (now let’s get Jeph Jacques and Danielle Corsetto involved in this!)
This is so babies: The One Question
I’ve been asked a lot of webcomic-y questions since Jump Leads launched back in ‘07, and with Deadlong having launched this month I’ve been asked more or less all of those questions again. One of those questions is, invariably, “What’s your favourite webcomic?”
Previously,…
Ditto. No, seriously. Shortpacked! is a great comic. I’ve never seen an episode of Transformers, nor do I obsessively collect figures. However, I *have* worked retail, and while the customers I’ve met were not as bad as the ones David portrays in his comic, I can certainly relate to the situations! David is a friend of mine and I’m immensely proud of the success he’s had. He is insanely talented, and I wish I had just a small percentage of the skill and talent he has at storytelling. If you aren’t reading Shortpacked! or his college strip Dumbing of Age you are missing out on some Grade A humor and drama. (Note: DoA features characters from SP!, but it’s a different universe, so the characters are not carbon copies.)

Everyone’s been asking me, hey, when can I get a book collection of Dumbing of Age? Well, the answer is now, with this Kickstarter fundraiser!
What is Dumbing of Age? It’s a webcomic you can find on the Internet, and it’s about freshman entering college. It stars Joyce, a fundamentalist Christian who was previously homeschooled, and her unlikely new friend Dorothy, an atheist who wants to be President. They’re surrounded by a varied cast of fully-realized characters.
This book would collect the first approximate year of strips from the website — including new commentary, behind-the-scenes artwork, and character profiles — into an 185-page tome with luxurious glossy paper.
To print 1500 copies of this first book, I’ll need to raise approximately $9000. Add postage and tax costs and the like, and that means I’ll have to raise approximately $11,000 total. So that’s the number on the board!
Now, I know some of you guys read my other webcomics, and the second-most popular question I’ve been getting, after the “when Dumbing Age book please???” one, is “when are you reprinting Shortpacked! Book One, which is sold out and out of print?”
Well, tell you what. If this Kickstarter fundraiser reaches $20,000, it’ll happen. There will be Shortpacked! Book Ones again. And everyone will be happy, and the world will be wonderful!
So, hey, let’s do this thing.
Aww, yeah! Sorry, David, I couldn’t afford the $2500 option! Guess I’ll just have to eat Taco Bell on my own. :D
Kinda just wanted to post something, so here’s something.
I feel sorry for the people who missed out on It’s Walky! during it’s epic run. The Angst! The Drama! The Humor! And oh man, the incredible forum community back then! The people who missed it will never understand how exciting it was. BUT!
